Getting Started
How do I record my first sermon?
Open PreachPal, tap the Listen tab, and tap the “Start Sermon” button. Grant microphone access when prompted. PreachPal will transcribe the sermon live and create a journal of key quotes, Bible verses, and reflections.
Why is the app asking for microphone and speech recognition access?
PreachPal needs your microphone to listen to sermons and speech recognition to transcribe them. Audio stays on your device unless you have cloud enhancement enabled, in which case it is processed by Deepgram in real time (never stored).
What if I denied microphone access by mistake?
Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → PreachPal → toggle on. PreachPal will detect the change automatically when you return to the app.
Subscriptions
What does PreachPal Premium include?
- Cloud-enhanced quality on unlimited sermons: 350 cloud minutes a month on Premium Monthly, 400 on Premium Yearly
- Advanced translation across all language pairs
- Additional Bible versions via API.Bible
- Structured Outline (AI-generated hierarchical sermon outline, exportable as PDF and Word)
The free plan includes cloud-enhanced quality for 3 sermons a month (up to 60 cloud minutes per sermon, 90 cloud minutes total), plus unlimited recording, storage, and on-device features always.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Go to iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → PreachPal. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from there. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
How do I restore purchases on a new device?
Go to PreachPal → Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. Your active subscription will be recognized automatically.
What happens when my cloud allowance runs out?
Your sermon keeps going. PreachPal quietly continues with on-device transcription and journaling, and recording, storage, and the Live Journal keep working without limits. Your usage is visible in Settings, and allowances reset on the first of each month.
Privacy & Security
What data does PreachPal collect?
None. PreachPal collects no personal information. All sermon data stays on your device and in your own private iCloud container. See the full Privacy Policy.
How do I turn off cloud enhancement?
Go to PreachPal → Settings → Cloud Enhancement → toggle off the master switch. Transcription will continue using on-device Apple speech recognition.
How do I enable the Face ID app lock?
Go to PreachPal → Settings → toggle on “Require Face ID to open PreachPal.”
How do I delete all my sermons?
Go to PreachPal → Settings → Privacy & Legal → Clear Local Data → confirm. This deletes all sermons from your device and syncs the deletion to your iCloud.
Troubleshooting
What can I do about poor transcription quality?
- Ensure cloud enhancement is on for the best quality (Settings → Cloud Enhancement)
- Reduce background noise when possible
- Make sure the microphone is not obstructed
- Verify you have a stable internet connection for cloud transcription
- On-device transcription works offline, but quality may vary with accent, dialect, and audio clarity
What happens if a sermon is interrupted by an app termination?
PreachPal has a built-in sermon recovery. On the next launch, you’ll be offered the choice to resume the interrupted sermon or discard it. Your partial journal entries are preserved.
My iCloud sync isn’t working
- Verify iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → iCloud Drive
- Verify PreachPal is allowed to use iCloud in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud
- Give sync a moment; it’s intentionally non-blocking and may take a few seconds
Which languages does PreachPal understand?
English and Spanish at launch, with live translation between them. The sermon language is detected automatically; you can also pin it in Settings → Language → Sermon Language. More languages are on the way.
